How to use Random Password Generator

  1. Choose 4-128 characters and a batch of 1-30 passwords.
  2. Select character sets, customize symbols and optionally exclude specific characters or ambiguous glyphs.
  3. Generate and copy the result to your password manager. Clear the displayed output when finished.

When to use this tool

Generate a random password or a small batch of test credentials with explicit character rules. Store real credentials in a suitable password manager rather than leaving downloaded plaintext copies.

Randomness and character policies

Rejection sampling avoids modulo bias when selecting a character. The generator can require at least one character from each nonempty selected set and shuffles the result. Custom symbols are treated as Unicode code points. The displayed search-space estimate is approximate when character-type requirements constrain the distribution.

Worked example

Length: 20; count: 5
Lowercase, uppercase and digits enabled
Exclude: 0O1lI
Each generated password contains 20 code points.

Limits and output checks

Generated passwords are visible on this page and in any exported file or clipboard destination. No password is stored by this tool. A character policy or an estimated bit count does not guarantee resistance to reuse, phishing or an insecure service.

Reference: Web Crypto random values.

Frequently asked questions

Does this use Math.random?

No. Character selection uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling.

Can I exclude characters?

Yes. Exclusions are removed from every enabled pool before generation. Empty selected pools are ignored; at least one usable pool must remain.

What does Clear output do?

It removes the displayed passwords and estimate. It cannot erase copies already saved, downloaded or placed on the system clipboard.

A practical workflow

Set the character rules required by the destination service, generate an output and use the available copy or export controls.

Read the scope alongside the result

Outputs remain visible on the page and in any copied or downloaded destination. Clearing the display cannot erase those copies; estimates are not a security guarantee.
