How to use XML & Text Sitemap Generator
- Set the base URL and paste paths or absolute URLs, or load a local text list.
- Choose XML or text and the host policy. Set last modified only when it accurately applies to the supplied pages.
- Generate, inspect unique URL and byte counts, then download and publish the sitemap.
When to use this tool
Turn a supplied list of canonical page URLs into an XML or text sitemap. This is a list builder, not an automatic website crawler; check live status codes before submission.
A sitemap is a list of discoverable URLs
Relative references resolve against the base address. Fragments are removed and identical normalized URLs are deduplicated. The same-host policy rejects a different host. Last modified describes a real page change; it should not be set to today's date merely because the sitemap was generated.
Worked example
Base: https://example.test/
Input: /docs, /docs#intro, /about
Output contains two unique URLs: /docs and /about.Limits and output checks
No crawling, status checking, canonical discovery or submission is performed. Each file is limited to 50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. URLs with credentials are rejected. The permissive host option can create a list that requires additional ownership/hosting arrangements before submission.

Frequently asked questions
Does this crawl my website?
No. It processes only the addresses you provide.
Why did a URL fragment disappear?
Fragments point within a document. Sitemap entries here identify the document URL.
Should I set priority or change frequency?
This generator omits them. Google ignores those values; accurate locations and truthful modification dates are more useful.
List intended URLs without inventing routes
Supply the intended absolute page URLs and review normalization and host options. Keep the sitemap list aligned with your own indexable canonical destinations.
Scope of this workflow
No crawl, status request, canonical discovery or submission occurs. Generating XML does not establish that every listed URL exists or will be indexed.
