Screenshot Editor and Mockup Maker Online

Turn a screenshot into a product presentation, release-note illustration or social image. Screenshot Studio combines browser and device frames, layout templates, text and annotations, then exports a flattened PNG, JPEG or WebP image. Keep a portable project separately when you need to edit the design again.

How to create a screenshot mockup

  1. Add your screenshot. Choose Upload, paste an image or use Capture screen. Clipboard and screen capture depend on browser support and permission; capture requires HTTPS or localhost.
  2. Choose a layout. Apply a template or select a browser, phone, tablet or desktop frame. Use no frame when you want the screenshot on its own background.
  3. Fit the screenshot. Select a screenshot slot and choose Fill to crop the edges, Fit to show the whole image, or Stretch. Adjust crop position to keep the important content visible.
  4. Add context. Use text, arrows and shapes to explain the feature. Adjust the background, padding, corners and shadow. Review annotations in Layers when several objects overlap.
  5. Export the image. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP and an output scale. Use batch export for several selected sizes in a ZIP. Review the downloaded image before sharing it.
  6. Keep an editable backup. Download a portable project with its screenshots and imported fonts. A flattened image export cannot preserve the original editable objects.

Example: explain a product update

Upload a screenshot of the updated interface, place it in a browser frame and add a short title. Point an arrow at the changed control and use a caption to explain its purpose. Export a landscape image for release notes or a square version for a social post. Check each size because a new layout can change the crop.

Adapt a screenshot layout without confusing scale and composition

A release-note image and a square announcement need different framing. Choose a template for the composition, then use output scale for the pixel dimensions of that composition.

Restyle currentCarries existing objects into the new canvas and maps screenshot slots where possible. Objects are scaled or repositioned for the layout.Inspect text wrapping, arrows, crops and any object anchored to a screenshot slot.
  1. Save a portable project before changing the layout. Choose a template and use Restyle current when retaining your annotations is important.
  2. Select each screenshot slot. Use Fit when the whole interface must remain visible; use Fill and adjust crop position when the important control needs more space.
  3. Read the title at the intended display size and check every arrow still points to the correct feature. Make manual adjustments for the new aspect ratio.
  4. Export and inspect each intended size. Batch ZIP is a set of flattened images; it does not replace the portable editable project.

Actual export-size example: one canvas, two PNGs

Synthetic Screenshot Studio export with red and blue halves, white caption and an opaque black rectangle
Genuine earlier export of a synthetic 800 × 500 test canvas. It contains a text object and an opaque rectangle, not a real application screenshot or finished product mockup.

The 1× PNG is 800 × 500; the 2× PNG is 1600 × 1000. Doubling each dimension produces four times as many pixels while keeping the same aspect ratio. It does not create a square layout or recover missing screenshot detail.

These are saved outputs from an earlier local run, reused byte for byte. They demonstrate dimensions, not current browser compatibility, screen-capture behavior or secure redaction. Editable backups can retain the original image beneath a cover.

For a broader layered design, use Image Editor Studio. The matching image assets workflow explains how to plan related compositions manually.

Screenshot editing versus general image editing

Use this studio for framed screenshots, annotated walkthroughs and presentation layouts. For a broader layered composition, open Image Editor Studio. For a single adjustment, use Crop Image, Resize Image or Compress Image.

Image formats and export limits

The screenshot picker accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and AVIF candidates, subject to browser decoding. Image export produces a flattened PNG, JPEG or WebP rather than an editable design or animation. The 1×, 2× and 3× settings scale the output dimensions; a larger export does not restore detail missing from a small source screenshot.

The source export limit is 15 megapixels. Individual image outputs and the batch ZIP each have a 64 MiB limit. Choose a smaller canvas or scale if an output is too large. Device memory can impose a lower practical limit.

Blur, redaction and original screenshots

Blur visually obscures an area and should not be treated as secure removal. The Redact tool paints an opaque cover into the flattened export. Check the exported image carefully for uncovered details before sharing. Editable project backups retain source screenshots, so do not share a project file when the original contains information you intend to withhold.

Local projects, recovery and privacy

Local saving and recovery snapshots help you return to a design in the same browser. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable, so download a portable project for important work. Portable backups include screenshots and imported fonts; missing resources may need relinking. These files contain editable source material, rather than only the finished image. See the privacy policy for site information.

Screenshot mockup frequently asked questions

Can I add a browser or phone frame?

Yes. Choose a browser, phone, tablet or desktop frame, or select a template with screenshot slots. These are visual presentation frames; they do not emulate a device or make the screenshot interactive.

Why does my screenshot lose its edges?

Fill crops the image to its slot. Choose Fit to keep the entire image visible, or adjust the horizontal and vertical crop position to show the area you need.

Can I take a screenshot directly in the editor?

Capture screen uses the browser's screen-sharing permission where supported and requires HTTPS or localhost. You can upload an existing screenshot if capture is unavailable.

Can I export several image sizes together?

Yes. Select batch presets and export them as a ZIP. Canvas dimensions, output scale, memory and the export limits still apply. Review each image's crop and text placement.

Is an exported PNG an editable project?

No. PNG, JPEG and WebP exports flatten the design. Download a portable project to keep screenshots, annotations and fonts available for later editing.
