Effects

Presets apply volume and short fades to selected clips. Peak normalization measures the active clip’s source range with a maximum 2× gain. It measures peaks, not perceived loudness.

Video editing guide

Arrange video, images and audio on a multitrack timeline, add titles and prepare an MP4 in this browser. Use the studio for a narrated clip, a photo sequence or a short creator video.

Make your first video

Choose Import media and select your source files. Check that they preview correctly.
Open Canvas to choose a landscape, portrait or square project. Arrange clips on the timeline; Shift-click selects several.
Select a clip to trim it or change its settings. Move the playhead and press S to split. Open Text to add titles and review playback before exporting.
Choose the top-bar Export MP4 button, select the resolution and confirm Export MP4. Keep the tab visible. If recording falls behind, shorten the timeline or retry at a lower resolution.
Open Project and choose Save portable backup to keep a restorable copy with referenced media. Keep your original files too.

Original export example you can inspect

The six-second synthetic source below contains timing flashes and tones. The two linked MP4s are genuine earlier exports of that fixture: preferred/native-with-recovery and Compatibility. Their historical reports record 854 × 480 picture dimensions. They are not a product-demo screen recording, a caption demonstration or a benchmark.

Import the source and check its preview before adding other media.
For your own edit, select a clip to trim or split it. Add a title only where it explains the story.
Choose Export MP4 and an available resolution. Keep the tab visible; if the normal path fails, review the message and available Compatibility option.
Open your download and listen across the timing markers. Keep the project backup separately from the MP4.

These files are historical local outputs, not proof of current runtime or device compatibility. The workspace screenshot above shows a separate title-editing state; that title is not established as part of these MP4s. Browser encoding and optional downloads remain runtime-dependent and UNVERIFIED in this sprint.

Files, export and browser requirements

Import video, image or audio files your browser can decode. A familiar file extension does not guarantee that the contained codec is supported. If a file cannot preview, try a browser-compatible conversion before editing.

The video output is MP4, with 480p, 720p and 1080p export settings. Canvas choices include 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5. Actual dimensions follow the chosen aspect ratio. Large clips and long timelines need more memory and processing time.

MP4 export uses browser media capabilities and may download an optional encoder. The Compatibility export option uses this fallback when available. Keep the tab visible during export; lower resolution can help when rendering or memory limits are reached.

Use a current desktop browser for the full timeline workspace. Browser codec, recording, storage and permission support varies by device. Microphone, camera and screen recording require browser permission and a secure context.

Captions, still frames and audio

In Tools > Captions, add a subtitle at the playhead, import SRT or download SRT text. Captions on the timeline can appear in the exported video. Automatic English captions require an optional speech-model download; review the text and timing.

Save frame downloads a PNG of the preview. Detaching a video's audio lets you work with it separately; the audio download uses WAV. These are separate actions from MP4 video export.

Processing, downloads and saved projects

The editor reads source files in this browser and can keep project data and media in browser storage. Browser storage can be unavailable, cleared or limited by quota; session mode does not keep media after the tab closes.

Optional MP4 encoding downloads FFmpeg code from jsDelivr. Automatic captions and portrait background removal download libraries and models from external hosts. These downloads need a connection; recording also depends on device permissions. Keep source files and downloaded backups under your own control.

Portable backups include up to 128 MiB of referenced source media across 256 files. Opening a backup is limited to 180 MiB. Edit-only backups need the original files relinked. Large media imports depend on browser decoding and available memory.

Choose a workflow

Planning a product walkthrough? Follow the screen recording to product demo tutorial for a storyboard, manual editing decisions and a final-file review checklist. Record the source separately; the downloadable practice clip is a timing exercise, not a finished product demonstration.

For a YouTube-style landscape clip, choose 16:9, arrange the main video and voice or music on separate tracks, add a title and review the MP4 before uploading. For a short portrait story, choose 9:16 and check text placement in the preview.

For a simpler task, use Trim Video, Compress Video or Convert Video. Create matching artwork with the YouTube Thumbnail Maker.

Why is an import, export or saved project failing?

If imported media will not preview, check whether the browser can decode it. If export fails, keep the tab visible, try a lower resolution and check the encoder-download message before using Compatibility export. If a reopened project lists missing sources, relink the original files in Project.

Escape: clear selection or cancel an edit.
