Ready to useHow to use Flexbox & CSS Grid Playground
- Choose Flexbox or Grid and set the gap, alignment and direction or column count.
- Set how many example items to render and their minimum width. Adjust wrapping when Flexbox is active.
- Inspect the preview, copy the CSS or download CSS and standalone demo HTML for further experimentation.
When to use this tool
Experiment with card grids, navigation alignment or wrapping before changing a stylesheet. Export a small demo to inspect the layout in the actual page and viewport.
Flexbox and Grid solve different layout problems
Flexbox distributes items along a main axis and can wrap them onto additional lines. Grid creates explicit tracks and places items into them. Grid columns use minmax(0, 1fr) here, allowing tracks to shrink without their min-content width dictating the whole layout. A nonzero item minimum can still make content overflow, which is useful to inspect deliberately.
Worked example
Grid starting point:
display: grid;
grid-template-columns: repeat(3, minmax(0, 1fr));
gap: 14px;
Flexbox starting point: display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap;Limits and output checks
The preview uses numbered sample elements, not your application's actual content. Long text, images, margins and parent constraints can change layout behavior. Mode-specific controls should be reviewed when switching models; the exported demo includes only the settings shown here.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change the number of boxes?
Yes. The item-count setting creates between 1 and 24 numbered sample elements locally.
Why can a Grid item still overflow?
A child minimum width can exceed the available track space. Track sizing and child sizing both matter.
Does the HTML export include a framework?
No. It is a standalone HTML example with ordinary CSS and numbered items, suitable for local inspection.
Sample items reveal layout settings, not all content
Switch between the layout modes, choose the supported settings and inspect the numbered sample items. Export the example as a starting point for your component.
Scope of this workflow
Real images, long text, child minimum widths and parent constraints can change the result. The sample is not a framework or a complete responsive-site assessment.
