How to use Open Graph & Twitter Card Generator
- Enter the page title, description, site name and absolute HTTP(S) page and image URLs.
- Choose a card type and locale. Add image alt text and optional pixel dimensions.
- Generate and copy the tags into your document head. Check the deployed page and image with the platforms you use.
When to use this tool
Prepare social-sharing tags for a published article or tool page. The image URL must be publicly reachable; a local preview does not establish how every sharing platform will display it.
Describe the image as well as the page
Open Graph image properties supply an image URL, dimensions and a textual description. Dimensions describe the actual image rather than resizing it. The preview here shows your copy without fetching the image; a platform can crop, cache or display it differently.
Worked example
Image: https://example.test/share.png
Width: 1200; height: 630
Alt: A dashboard showing weekly project activity
Output includes og:image:alt and twitter:image:alt.Limits and output checks
This generates metadata, not a hosted image or crawler audit. The image must be publicly reachable. Character counts do not guarantee a specific display or ranking. Image dimensions are optional but must be positive integers when supplied.

Frequently asked questions
Does the preview fetch my image?
No. It illustrates the title, description and page address without contacting the image URL.
Are dimensions required?
No. Leave both blank to omit them, or provide the actual width and height in pixels.
Will edits immediately change shared posts?
Platforms can cache previews. Publish the tags first and use the platform's inspection tools when refreshing cached content.
Describe a share card without hosting its image
Enter page and image information, then review the generated metadata. Keep the page title, description and destination consistent with the real source.
Scope of this workflow
The preview does not fetch the image or confirm crawler access. Metadata is not a hosted asset or a guarantee of the card shown by every service.
