Add choices. Pick something.

Local randomness · Your list stays here

1–200 nonempty lines, up to 120 Unicode code points per choice and 128 KiB total. Leading/trailing whitespace is trimmed.

Labels are shortened on the wheel. Above 24 entries, use the text list and result for full names.

Pick history

The report includes your choices, remaining entries and the latest 100 picks. Names and choices may be private. Nothing is saved in browser storage.

How to use the random picker

    1. Enter one name, task or idea per line, or try the sample choices.
    2. Choose whether duplicate lines count as separate entries and whether selected entries leave the current round.
    3. Choose Spin & pick. The result appears after the wheel animation; reduced-motion preferences use an immediate reveal.
    4. Keep picking, start a New round to restore the original entries, or prepare and download a JSON round report.

    Equal chances per active entry

The picker uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues API. Rejection sampling maps random values to entries without modulo bias. Each active entry has the same chance on each draw. The result is selected before the wheel animation, which only presents that result.

Duplicate handling matches exact trimmed text and is case-sensitive. By default, repeated lines are ignored. When duplicate entries are enabled, each line is a separate chance, so a repeated name has more chances than a name entered once. Removing a winner removes only the selected entry, including when other entries have the same name.

    Rounds and cancellation

With removal enabled, an entry cannot be selected again in that round after it is removed. When all entries are used, choose New round. With removal disabled, entries remain available and the same choice may be selected repeatedly.

Editing the list or changing duplicate/removal options starts a fresh round and clears old picks and reports. Cancel spin leaves the pool unchanged and records no result. Clear workspace removes the list and history. During a spin, controls that change the round are disabled; Cancel and Clear remain available.

    Wheel, history and limits

Use 1–200 nonempty lines. Each label supports up to 120 Unicode code points and the input is limited to 128 KiB. Blank lines are ignored and outer whitespace is trimmed. Wheel labels are abbreviated; above 24 entries the segments omit labels to stay readable. The full winning text and original list remain available as text.

History keeps the latest 100 completed picks, with the total pick count. The wheel continues to show the completed draw until the next spin or round reset; the remaining count describes the next draw. JSON is a snapshot of the round when prepared and is invalidated by the next pick or a round change.

    Privacy and intended use

Choices and results remain in this page's memory, with no uploads, accounts or browser-storage persistence. Text is displayed literally. Only your explicit report download creates a saved copy. Clear or leaving the page releases the report URL and choices.

This is a convenient decision aid. The local, editable page and JSON are not a tamper-proof audit, independently verifiable draw or certified raffle system. The picker does not provide weighted draws or decide outcomes based on spin timing.

Random values come from the browser's Crypto.getRandomValues API; there is no runtime library or network request for a draw.

    Frequently asked questions

Can the same name win twice?

Yes if removal is off, or if multiple identical entries are enabled. With removal on and no duplicates, a choice can appear only once per round.

Does a longer spin change the odds?

No. The entry is chosen before the animation. The animation does not determine the result.

Will the list be remembered after I leave?

No. The tool does not save it in browser storage. Download a report if you want a copy of the round.

Treat a draw as an editable local decision aid

Enter the choices, inspect the round settings and spin. Save a result snapshot if you need a record of that completed draw.

    Scope of this workflow

The page and its reports are locally editable, not independently audited draws. Choices and history are session state rather than persistent cloud records.
