When to use this calculator
Compare repayment terms for the same fixed-rate loan, then test an extra monthly payment. Use the amortization table to see how interest and principal change over time before comparing the assumptions with a lender quote.

How to use EMI & Loan Repayment Calculator
- Enter the principal, nominal annual rate and a term in whole years and months. Zero interest is supported.
- Enable extra monthly repayment to compare payoff time and interest under the same scheduled EMI.
- Inspect the amortization and final payment, then copy or download the schedule or calculation report.
EMI uses a monthly reducing balance
The model divides the nominal annual rate by 12. Each period first covers interest, then reduces principal; an extra payment reduces the remaining balance. The last payment can be smaller than the scheduled EMI. Currency selection changes display notation, not an exchange rate.
Worked example
Principal: 120,000; annual rate: 0%; term: 12 months
Monthly EMI: 10,000
Total interest: 0
Extra repayment shortens the modeled term.Assumptions and limits
Fixed rate and monthly periods only. Bank day-count conventions, reset dates, fees, insurance, arrears and prepayment charges are excluded. A schedule is a planning illustration rather than a lender quote.

Frequently asked questions
Can I enter zero interest?
Yes. The scheduled payment becomes principal divided by the number of months.
Does changing currency convert the amount?
No. The same numeric amount is formatted using the selected currency.
Does extra repayment reduce EMI automatically?
This model retains the scheduled EMI and reduces the payoff term. A lender may offer different recast terms.
