When to use this calculator
Compare a steady monthly investment with an annual contribution step-up. Keep the same return convention and deposit timing in both scenarios so the difference reflects contributions rather than a hidden change in assumptions.

How to use SIP Investment Scenario Calculator
- Enter a monthly contribution, assumed annual return, whole-year horizon and optional lump sum.
- Choose beginning/end-month deposits and the annual-rate convention. Optionally enable an annual contribution step-up.
- Review the yearly contributions and projected balance. Export the existing CSV or a local JSON report.
Contribution timing changes the projection
Beginning-month deposits receive that month's modeled growth. End-month deposits are added after growth. Nominal mode divides the annual rate by 12; effective mode derives a monthly rate whose twelve periods produce the entered annual growth. A fixed assumption is not a forecast of actual fund returns.
Worked example
Monthly contribution: 1,000; return: 0%; horizon: 1 year
Invested: 12,000; projected balance: 12,000
A positive assumed rate gives beginning-month deposits one extra growth period.Assumptions and limits
No market volatility, fees, fund tax treatment, missed installments or redemption rules are simulated. Expected returns and step-ups are assumptions. Projection results are not guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
Is the default return a promised return?
No. It is an editable scenario assumption.
What does a step-up change?
It increases the monthly contribution at the start of each subsequent modeled year.
Are nominal and effective return modes interchangeable?
No. At a positive rate they produce different monthly growth. Select the convention appropriate to your scenario.
A practical input scenario
Use a labeled contribution scenario and inspect the relationship between the displayed invested amount and projected balance.
Read the scope alongside the result
The entered return is an assumption, not a forecast. Existing exclusions for fees, tax treatment and market variability remain part of the model scope.
